PLI Textile Scheme Deadline Extended to September 30 to Fuel Fresh Wave of Industry Investment

The Ministry of Textiles has announced an extension of the application window for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles, providing companies until September 30, 2025 to apply. This decision comes in response to the strong interest from industry players and a surge of fresh applications during the most recent round.

In August, the government received 22 new applications from companies engaged in Manmade fibre (MMF) Apparel, Fabrics and Technical textiles. With this extension the government seeks to give one more opportunity to prospective investors eager to benefit from the scheme. So far, 74 companies have already been selected as beneficiaries, marking significant progress in the scheme’s implementation.

According to the ministry, the enthusiastic response reflects not only the growing appetite for investment but also the confidence generated by India’s expanding textile manufacturing capabilities. The PLI scheme is designed to encourage innovation, strengthen the domestic textile value chain and enhance global competitiveness by supporting manufacturers in producing high-value textile products.

Officials stressed that the reopening of the application window is aimed at channeling further industry participation in light of India’s rising role in global supply chains. By nurturing fresh investment, the scheme is expected to create jobs, boost exports and support the country’s long-term vision of making the textile sector a global powerhouse.

However, the ministry has made it clear that no applications will be entertained beyond the September 30 deadline. The final opportunity places emphasis on timely participation by companies that wish to tap into the benefits of the PLI framework.

The extension signals the government’s commitment to supporting growth in the textile sector, while creating an enabling environment for companies to expand their operations, invest in advanced manufacturing, and contribute to India’s textile leadership on the world stage.
