ITAMMA Weaves a New Chapter in Innovation and Collaboration at Coimbatore Meet

A vibrant confluence of technology, academia, and industry unfolded in Coimbatore as the Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA) hosted a landmark two-day event on 27 and 28 June 2025. Focused on redefining the future of textile machinery and man-made fibres (MMF), the event drew leading experts, scholars, and innovators under one roof.

On the first day, the ITAMMA Board Meeting featured robotics pioneer Dr. B. Vinod from PSG College of Technology. His insights into automation, drawn from collaborations with global giants like Heidenhain and Siemens, highlighted the need for deeper industry-academia synergy. A seminar on MMF trends followed, with experts pointing out that MMFs now account for 72% of global fibre use. N.D. Mhatre and Omprakash Mantry urged machine manufacturers to embrace technology shifts catering to this demand.

Dr. S.K. Sundararaman, the Chief Guest, called for robust policy support to make indigenous MMFs more accessible. His vision of functional and fashion-led MMFs echoed across sessions. Guest speaker Suryadeb Mukherjee stressed on R&D and eco-practices for sustainable growth.

On 28 June, the “B.K. Mehta Technology Networking Mission-2030” spotlighted young talent through an impressive student innovation showcase. Themes ranged from AI in learning to agro-textiles and sustainable hygiene.

A strategic MoU between SVPITSM and ITAMMA was signed, followed by a technical visit to Lakshmi Machine Works, further nurturing the spirit of innovation. The event stood as a powerful testament to the strength of collaborative growth in India’s evolving textile engineering ecosystem.
